June 2011
In June we will be finishing up our drum season with the last moon phase on June 2nd.
We will now move our attention offshore for deepwater flounder fishing! These are not your typical flounder trips as we fish between 70 and 100 ft of water targeting big flounder. We will be using some of the more traditional flounder rigs but mostly jigging for them with bucktails. These trips can see awesome action and limits of big flounder are far from uncommon. These are 8hr trips at $775 for private charter and $130 per person for open boat.
If you want something on the larger scale, look to us for a shark fishing charter. In June, thresher and mako sharks are common with threshers reaching 500+lbs and makos at 300+lbs. You are also likely to see blues, brown, duskys, and tiger sharks. These are 12hr trips at $1300 for private charter.
The 3rd week of June marks the arrival of tuna in southern New Jersey. The main focus will be bluefin tuna which can range in size from 40lb to 300+lbs with 50 to 100lb fish the average. We use several different tactics for catching these fish such as trolling, chunking, and jigging. These trips are 12hr and are $1500 for private charter or $250 per person for open boat.
