September 2011
We will be deepwater flounder fishing in September for as long as the season allows us. We are not sure when the season will end as the rules will be seat in April. September is an outstanding month for big fish, and lots of them! These trips are $775 per person or $130 for open boat.
If flounder season closes early, we will turn our attention to the great seabass fishery we have here in southern NJ. September is a great month for filling the fish box with tasty seabass. Action can be fast and furious with double and triple headers. The limit is 25 per person so you can go home with a good amount of meat. We will be fishing anchored over wrecks and hard structure for these fish. These trips are 8hrs at $775 for private charter or $130 per person for open boat.
Mako and Thresher shark fishing is also on tap. Big sharks are making their migration south and are there for the taking. Fall shark fishing is less popular than spring shark fishing but just as productive. Very little fishing pressure! We do 8hr trips at $900 and 12hr trips at $1300. Private charters only.
September is a hot month for tuna fishing. We will still be doing our 12 and 16hr trolling trips but also doing our 24+ hr overnight trips. We usually leave at noon, troll til sundown, chunk all night, and then troll again in the morning. Our primary focus is on yellowfin but you can also find longfin, bigeye, marlin, swordfish, dolphin (mahi mahi), and makos during these trips. These trips are $2500 for private charter or $420 per person.
